I set off on this morning’s run – camera in hand – to capture some images at a nearby cemetery. As I began to shoot, I stopped and put my camera down.
Instead I used my time to ensure every soul at rest in this beautiful place had a visitor this Memorial Day. I walked the rows, righted flowers, untangled flags and cleared weeds from unattended graves that I personally believed were overgrown because families were too distraught to return.
Time disappeared. A while later I wished them all well. And then I walked – not ran – home.
